The Flop House
The Flop House is a comedy podcast where hosts Elliott Kalan, Dan McCoy, and Stuart Wellington watch and discuss the worst movies in recent film. They engage in unscripted conversations about the films' shortcomings and occasional delights, often veering into pointless and silly digressions.

FH Mini #160 - The Goofs Are Mutating! with Felipe Sobreiro
We welcome esteemed illustrator and comics artist Felipe Sobreiro to take on more of those INFERNAL GOOFS! And because Felipe's most recent project is the wonderful new Toxic Avenger comic, all of these goofs are related to mutant movies! Just because your movie's filled with mutations, that's no excuse for goofs!Tickets for FLOP TV SEASON FOUR are available! Go pick up a pass for individual
Scream 7
Much like a horror movie villain, the Scream movies refuse to die, even though with every new sequel the films shed more of what that made the franchise special and the whole thing just becomes a regular ol' slasher series. Does that pun work? Like docket? Like "clearing the docket" over on our friends' show Judge John Hodgman? Anywhoooo. Standing Ovation
We say goodbye to Smalltember with a true bad movie jewel (thanks to Alonso Duralde for recommending it) -- the kid/tween/teen musical comedy STANDING OVATION, one of the few movies about a singing competition that also makes room for a mob subplot and a child who threatens people with deadly animals. What a magical picture.FLOP TV SEASON FOUR is well underway! Go pick up a pass for indi

Astronaut movies. What are they? Is "astronaut movie" even a genre? Elliott poses the question, and it leads to a mini that... Surfer: Teen Confronts Fear
Smalltember winds are blowing in, and this year the currents brought us a doozy. SURFER: TEEN CONFRONTS FEARhas already become a new bad movie classic, and we had a lot of fun(?) confronting this strange object that arrived at Flop House central like a beached whale. It's a metaphysical monologue! It's a stealth religious film! It's a military thriller! It's a surfing movie! It's a dad wasting his
FH Mini 157 - Gremlins: The Rough Cut, with Ian Grant
We welcome Ian Grant, who -- in addition to having two Jurassic Park scientist names -- is the owner and proprietor of The Gremlins Museum! We discuss the 3-hour(ish) rough cut he unearthed and cleaned up, gremlin preservation, and all things Gremlins in general.

The Moment, with Hallie Haglund
Charli XCX is a huge pop star, seems cool, and is a genuine film lover -- but when she decided to make her own movie, were the results any good? That's what we were wondering about THE MOMENT, and we invited star of the show (and bigger Charli XCX-pert than any of us) Hallie Haglund back to the show to help us decide.

FH Mini 156 - The Peach Pit, with Hallie!
Stuart brings back the world's most popular Flop House after-show, hosted by one of the hosts of The Flop House, and this time Hallie's here (her presence makes more sense when you realize that we taped next week's full episode with her first, but this one was the first to release). This time, Stu asks The Flop House gang about their experiences with live shows, with some diversions into Dan, Elli
Lee Cronin's The Mummy
Shocktober threatens to break the bounds of the fall, with this unexpected incursion into August. This aggression will not stand! Watch yourself, Shocktober! Anyway, on this episode we discuss The Mummy. The one with Brendan Fraser? No. The one with Tom Cruise? No. The one with Boris Karloff? No, silly, LEE CRONIN'S THE MUMMY. The Master of Disguise LIVE
Way back in the winter we stopped by SF Sketchfest to discuss the film that gave us the mental image of Dana Carvey in a turtle suit, solemnly remembering the victims of 9/11 -- THE MASTER OF DISGUISE. Proving that Stuart's not the only one who can do a lore deep dive, Dan takes us on a tour of one of his more oddball obsessions, the 1985 cartoon series Jem, and it's one of our longest minis ever. Truly, truly, truly outrageous!

The Bride! with Kenice Mobley
Oftentimes on The Flop House we wind up watching Hollywood movies that are just kind of dull or mediocre or unimaginative. The Bride!... is not one of those. For all its flaws, it's at least a bona fide personal vision that also happens to be a fiasco. And you know what? That's kind of heartwarming. We're joined by Kenice Mobley to dissect (ha) the many parts that make up The Bride! And if you lik

Wuthering Heights
Emerald Fennell took one of the classic works of literature most beloved by horny youth and said, "But what if I took out the subtlety?" It actually made quite a lot of money at the box office, but did it work for the Flop House? Guess you'll have to listen to find out. (See, Emerald? That's how you TEASE.)

The Mandalorian and Grogu, with Will Hines
It's a rare "Flop House in the Aisles," as we took to the theater to see the tepidly-received (though still wildly successful) latest Star Wars thing, THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU. It's got a li'l green guy in it! How bad could it be? And for a very special episode, we needed a special guest -- the talented actor and improvisor Will Hines, returning to the show after a seventeen year absence! See you
FH Mini 151 - Birthday Movies
It's established lore that, growing up, Dan mostly got to see movies in the theater on his birthday, as a special treat. But what were those movies? And if you had limited birthday bucks (TM) to spend, were those movies BIRTHDAY-WORTHY?

After Last Season, with J.D. Amato
Back in 2009 a movie trailer set the internet aflame. Not because it was for some long-awaited adaptation or giant blockbuster, but because it was so odd people assumed it had to be a prank. Now in 2026, we welcome the wonderful J.D. Amato to discuss this oddball (?)thriller(?) AFTER LAST SEASON!

Dreamcatcher, with Evan Dorkin
In 2003, legendary director Lawrence Kasdan teamed with legendary screenwriter William Goldman, for a big-budget adaptation of a novel by legendary horror novelist Stephen King. On this episode, legendary (at least to us!) comics artist and writer Evan Dorkin joins us to discuss one of the most inexplicable
Return to Silent Hill, with Steven Kostanski

40 Days and 40 Nights
We close out Max Fun Drive 2026 with some true pain. Stuart's proclaimed "least favorite movie," 40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS, a supposed "sexy romcom" that's actually a melange of unfunny shenanigans, poisonous attitudes, nothing that resembles actual human behavior, and (trigger warning) some unacknowledged sexual assault. It's... a lot. But at least it led to a funny episode -- like a flower, blooming

For Max Fun Drive 2026 (starting this Monday 4/20)the Peaches issued a fiendish challenge to one another -- we each get ONE pick to bedevil the others with, and Stuart starts us off with a doozy: 1994's EXIT TO EDEN. Mercy
AI is bad, except maybe it's not, maybe AI will help you solve the murder of your wife before it executes you for the murder of its wife... wtf is Mercy saying, anyway? Maybe it's saying if you put your hero in a chair for 100 minutes your movie will feel inert. Especially if Chris Pratt is that hero? Hard to say, but we do our best to untangle one of the silliest flops of the year.

Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie
"What's the Bratz of the 2020's?" we asked ourselves, chasing that ultimate Bratz high. "Could it be Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie?" The movie was not meant for us, but we had a fun time talking about it.

Ep.#452 - Summer Camp
The Flop House is headed to Summer Camp! A few weeks of sun, swimming, hiking, crafts -- we're gonna make each other SO MANY FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS that our circulation is gonna cut off! We're gonna have so much fu-- what? It's just a movie? But... it stars Diane Keaton, Alfre Woodard, and Kathy Bates, so with those actors it's gotta be at least a little fun, righ-- it's not? Ep.#451 - Better Man, with Hallie Haglund

This one's the rare FH movie that was a critical success while being a financial flop -- will we agree with the critics? Oh, and we buried the lede: HALLIE'S BACK!Wikipedia page for Better ManRecommended in this episode:Dan: Ninja 3: The

We discuss what defines a giallo and differentiates it from other sub-genres (and the slasher films it helped inspire), and then Alejandro runs us through a lit
Ep.#450 - Unfrosted, with Alex Smith
We flashback to discuss a movie that was much-requested when it was first released, but just didn't fit into our schedule -- Jerry Seinfeld's baffling paean to the Pop Tart, Unfrosted, a film that throws an astounding cavalcade of comedy talent at ideas that seem (apologies) a bit undercooked. Also, we were blessed by the rare in-studio presence of our beloved producer, Alex Smith, who hadn't actu
FH Mini 126 - Impressionable Peaches
While we were all fortunate enough to record in-person, Stuart filled Dan and Elliott with booze and forced them to do celebrity "impressions." It's either our most fun episode or our most embarrassing! Or both!Subscribe to our NEWSLETTER, “Flop Secrets!”
