
Literature and History
Literature and History is an independent podcast that explores the cultural history behind famous works of literature, starting from Sumerian cuneiform in 3,100 BCE and moving chronologically through ancient civilizations, the Old Testament, Greece, Rome, early Christianity, and the Middle Ages. Episodes average two hours and include a general introduction, a full summary for newcomers, and an analysis of historical and biographical contexts. The show features original symphonic and ambient music, and offers free illustrated transcripts and quizzes. It has no advertisements and focuses on educational content without chitchat.
