The Odyssey is one of the two major ancient Greek epic poems attributed to Homer, dating to between 800 and 600 BC. It is a sequel to the Iliad and follows the Greek hero Odysseus on his ten-year journey home to Ithaca after the fall of Troy. During his absence, his wife Penelope and son Telemachus contend with unruly suitors in his palace. The poem is a foundational text of the Western canon, still read in Homeric Greek and translations worldwide.
