Higher Pantheism in a Nutshell, The by Algernon Charles Swinburne (1837 - 1909)
This is a LibriVox recording of "The Higher Pantheism in a Nutshell" by the Victorian English poet, playwright and critic Algernon Charles Swinburne. Nine volunteer readers contribute their own renditions of the poem, which was produced as LibriVox's Fortnightly Poetry project for September 18, 2011. The piece is a satirical response in verse to Tennyson's "The Higher Pantheism", playing with its arguments about God, nature and the human spirit. Each section presents a different voice reading the same text, so listeners can compare interpretations of Swinburne's rhythm and wit.
