Camp Half-Pod: A Percy Jackson Podcast
Camp Half-Pod is a fan podcast hosted by Erin and Manasa, two longtime readers of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson universe. Episodes work through the books a few chapters at a time, starting with Percy Jackson and the Olympians and continuing into Heroes of Olympus, The Trials of Apollo, and the companion volumes. Along the way the hosts speculate about plot developments, share favorite moments, and trade plenty of dorky jokes and tangents. It is an informal, spoiler-friendly companion for readers rereading or discovering the series.

212: Our Favorite Odyssey Parallels (Spongebob Movie, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, and More!!!)
We are wrapping up our Camp Half-Podyssey summer (even though it's late September, oops) with a discussion of our favorite, and most unhinged, Odyssey parallels in media! We each present the case for two different movies and argue why they're Odyssey parallels. The movies include: The Spongebob Movie (2004), Oh Brother Where Art Thou (2000), Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993), a

211: Epic: The Musical Part 2 ft. Avelaka
Our final part of our Epic: The Musical review is here! We are joined again by Avelaka to talk about the second half of the songs on the concept album. Discussions include the “synth-y cello,” the consequences of your actions, man vs. monster (or, muppet), the meaning of ruthlessness as mercy, the spirit of Lin Manuel Miranda, the whoosh of it all, and how much we love Penelope. Thank you to all o

210: Epic: The Musical Part 1 ft. Avelaka
Welcome back to Summer Camp Half-Podyssey! Our long-awaited review of Epic: The Musical is FINALLY here. We are joined by a return guest, our friend Avelaka, resident theater kid. We set out originally to do one episode on Epic, but ended up talking for so long that we have to do two parts. Ya’ll were right – this musical is great. We discuss the origin of Jorge Rivera-Herron’s music and then dive

209: Our Review of The Odyssey (2026)
Welcome to Summer Camp Half-Podyssey! We’re back for some fun, summer episodes all about Odysseus. Starting off, naturally, with a review of the new movie starring Matt Damon. We give our unfiltered, inexpert review of the movie based completely on vibes and our in-depth Percy Jackson knowledge. Topics of discussion include: nuance, Matt Damon’s arms, Matt Damon’s stunt double’s arms, bad dialog,

208: Will, No Longer A Banana (COURT OF THE DEAD Ch 36-41)
We’re finally caught up on all the Riordanverse books (again!) (minus Kane Chronicles!). These chapters are arguably the most chaotic chapters we’ve ever read. Dolus and Apate mess with The Mist. Everyone is a cat. Everyone is then in Halloween costumes. Will is a banana? Pirithous is eventually caught, and really wants to be punished. He’s a man who loves rules. Hecate shows up to help restore ev

207: Who Is Driving The Vehicle of My Body? (COURT OF THE DEAD Ch 31-35 + Eidolon Deep Dive)
New Percy Jackson news to discuss! Also new monsters to deep dive on! Chaos breaks out in these chapters. Hazel exposes Pirithous’s evil plan to capture a god and manipulate minor gods with his secret weapon. He tries to manipulate all the mythics. These chapters have a pretty poignant political message, sandwiched in between confusing plot points. Kelli comes back, and she still sucks! The camper

206: A Mom Saves The Day, Again (COURT OF THE DEAD Ch 26-30 + Blemmyae Deep Dive)
This week, Nico is diving into his trauma and healing. We are diving into the Blemmyae! Back at camp, Nico connects with Savannah over their grief, and gets to be the supportive figure he always wished he had. Hazel is still stuck in the invisible park prison, but a mom comes to the rescue – Naomi Solace! Naomi tells the campers what’s going on with the mythics and Hazel, and they concoct a plan t

205: The Griffin Version of Heated Rivalry (COURT OF THE DEAD Ch 21-25 + Griffin Deep Dive)
We’re at the meat of this story – Nico, Will, and Hazel find out what’s been going on with the Court of the Dead. The mythics are being judged for being different. Erin is judging the plot of this book. The Court of the Dead hates change, and charges Asterion and our girl Hazel with Crimes. Manasa gives us some lore on Bloody Mary. Hazel is taken away by the Court and Nico has some really sad drea

204: Beating The Dead Horse And His Bluetooth (COURT OF THE DEAD Ch 16-20 + Karpos Deep Dive)
The campers all band together to come up with a plan to capture whoever is taking the mythics. Erin and Manasa get distracted talking about Barbie Fairtyopia. Erin’s dogs are playing so much during this episode that we didn’t bother to edit them out. They are a part of this. We deep dive on Laverna for a moment. Hazel, Nico, and Will head to downtown San Francisco to go to court. It's time for

203: This Is Just Like In Halloweentown High (COURT OF THE DEAD Ch 11-15 + Empousa Deep Dive)
Erin and Manasa begin their Percy Jackson podcasting by debriefing the Big Animorphs News, naturally (perchance… a new podcast idea??? Stay tuned). Will there now be explicit Animorphs references in the Disney+ PJO adaptation? Crossover musical episode? Just kidding (unless…). Erin points out that the plot of this book is just like Halloweentown 3, Halloweentown High. The mythics have a hard time

202: We Have Tartarus At Home! (COURT OF THE DEAD Ch 6-10 + Minotaur Deep Dive)
Erin starts off with pretending like she never was weird about the Minotaur. She’s gaslighting herself. We wonder if this is the same story as The Sun and the Star but with lower stakes. The mythics struggle to fit in at Camp Jupiter. Mr. D provides some telehealth therapy. Then, we are joined via audio messages by a listener Chloe, who gives us a super thorough deep dive on the Minotaur’s name. E

201: Are We Not Woke Enough? (COURT OF THE DEAD Ch 1-5 + Cacodemon Deep Dive)
We're back!!!! Finally, we tackle Court of the Dead, the sequel to The Sun and the Star. We have a lot of questions. First of all, who gave Mr. D a license to practice therapy??? Also, why is he suddenly nice? The premise of this book is juicy and hilarious, and we get to meet this new version of the Minotaur, or should we say, Asterion. Erin doesn't find him as hot now that he's a good guy. We do

198: Episode 2x8 Review, "The Fleece Works Its Magic Too Well"
SEASON 2 FINALE!!!!! (screaming, crying, throwing up). This week, we're discussing Disney+'s Percy Jackson and the Olympians Episode 8 of Season 2, "The Fleece Works Its Magic Too Well." We discuss the art of adaptation and adjusting themes to be relevant to current times. What do we do when our leaders aren't standing up for us? We protect our own, that's what. There are

197: Episode 2x7 Review, "I Go Down With The Ship"
It's time to invade a cruise ship, everyone. This week, we're discussing Disney+'s Percy Jackson and the Olympians Episode 7 of Season 2, "I Go Down With The Ship." Let it be known we're not entirely sure what ship is being referred to here. This episode deviates from the book the most, and we go deep into our thoughts on each change. Some? We like. Some? We're holdin

196: Episode 2x6 Review, "Nobody Gets The Fleece"
The gang is all here on Polyphemus's island (and it's not a tropical, relaxing island vacation). This week, we're discussing Disney+'s Percy Jackson and the Olympians Episode 6 of Season 2, "Nobody Gets The Fleece." Percy's fatal flaw is out and about this episode, and we aren't complaining. We say the word "interesting" like 37 times and work on our pronunciation of Thalia. Percy and Annabeth's p

195: Episode 2x5 Review, "We Check In To C.C.'s Spa And Resort"
This episode may be our new holy grail of Percabeth moments. We too would burn it all down for Annabeth!!! We talk about all the deviations they made from the books, and why they may have done that. What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to be hero? This episode gets into so many of the themes we've been tracking. Sally Jackson is constantly haunting (positive) the narrative. We give

194: Episode 2x4 Review, "Clarisse Blows Up Everything"
Buckle up, folks, because this might be our favorite episode yet. Chalked full of flashbacks, Percabeth moments, and killer special effects, we're discussing Disney+'s Percy Jackson and the Olympians Episode 4 of Season 2, "Clarisse Blows Up Everything." We ~dive~ into discussions about Clarisse and her loyalty, Percy's complete trust in Annabeth, and Manasa's fear of pronunciation. Be sure to fol

193: Episode 2x3 Review, "We Board The Princess Andromeda"
We are in for another treat with this episode! We discuss Episode 3 of Season 2 of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Disney+ show, "We Board the Princess Andromeda." This episode is about Clarisse, and also about Luke's MLM. WHO is the head of Kronos's marketing team? Also, what is Allison Sims's backstory? This show has successfully converted us into Clarisse supporters. They won't get us yet o

192: Episode 2x2 Review, "Demon Pigeons Attack"
EPISODE 2!!!! We're so excited to talk about Episode 2 of the Disney+ Percy Jackson and the Olympians show, "Demon Pigeons Attack." We love the chariot race scene, and Mariah Carey to the rescue. We, naturally, spend a while talking about Percabeth and the tension between Annabeth and Percy. Clarisse gets a quest, but it already isn't going to go as planned. Percy tries to run aw

191: Episode 2x1 Review, "I Play Dodgeball With Cannibals"
SEASON 2, BABY! We are here to discuss all the good stuff in episode 1 of season 2 of the Disney+ show, "I Play Dodgeball With Cannibals." We chat about all the changes, and are obsessed with the new way the empathy link is described. The Percabeth moments in this episode are to die for, and we're only on season 2. We are so ready for all 8 episodes!!!Links:SUPPORT US ON PATREON: http

190: The Party Pony Math Problem, We Revisit SEA OF MONSTERS Ch 19-20
On our final Sea of Monsters re-listen episode, we finish up the last two chapters of the book and make final predictions for the second season of the show. We reminisce on how much we love the ending of Sea of Monsters. We ask important questions, like what kind of punk is Thalia going to be in the show?, Do trees have dreams?, and How the heck does an empathy link work? Be sure to follow us on s

189: The Three Brain Theory, We Revisit SEA OF MONSTERS Ch 16-18
We're at the climax of the book! Neither of us have great memories, so it was fun to revisit how this book ends. Percy and friends defeat Polyphemus. Manasa has a theory about our three brains, which we both completely forgot about. Is Percy a colonizer? Is Polyphemus a colonizer? Actually, why does Polyphemus even have the fleece? Clarisse gets to have her hero moment, and we discuss how much

188: Oops, Our Fatal Flaws Are Showing! We Revisit SEA OF MONSTERS Ch 13-15
It's time for the fatal flaw episode! This was one of our favorite re-listens to date. It's full of lots of deep conversations and analysis, Spongebob references, and silly debates about Thalia's time as a tree. We spend a long time discussing the sirens, both in our old episode and in our new content. We revisit our discussion about our fatal flaws nearly four years later. Can your fa

187: Still Confused About Hydras, We Revisit SEA OF MONSTERS Ch 10-12
Our takes in this episode were frankly, all correct. While many things may have changed, we still have the same adoration for the Sea of Monsters. We listen to our past selves crash out over the anatomy of a hydra. We talk about Clarisse, and if there should be the dead army of confederate soldiers on the show. Percy gets turned into a guinea pig, and we discuss female villains. Timestamps:Old epi

186: The Spongebob Origin, We Revisit SEA OF MONSTERS Ch 7-9
This episode uncovers the beginnings of our Spongebob is Percy Jackson lore. Percy meets Hermes, gets his quest, and discovers Luke's new evil lair. We miss how dramatic Luke was as a villain, and theorize about how that will play out in the show. We still are not fans of cruise ships. Some things never change... Timestamps: Old episode begins: 3:45Chapter 7 Commentary: 16:08, 28:00, 36:52Chap

185: This Is Why We're The Unhinged Podcast, We Revisit SEA OF MONSTERS Ch 4-6
We’re back with another relisten, for Sea of Monsters Ch 4-6! This week, Erin apologizes for everything she’s ever said about Chiron. We bring back nuance in 2025, which is in character for discussing PJO. Topics include our thoughts on CGI Tyson, casting (or lack thereof, cough cough, Silena), and Taylor Swift’s apparently controversial album. A ton happens in these chapters, including Chiron’s w

184: A Trip Down Memory Lane, We Revisit SEA OF MONSTERS Ch 1-3
We are SO excited to be re-reading (or re-listening?) to our Sea of Monsters episodes with you all to prepare for Season 2 of the Disney+ show! This episode includes over 30 minutes of new content and reactions interspersed with our original audio from Episode 10: What's Up With Dodgeball? We discuss chapters 1-3 of Sea of Monsters and pinpoint the things we are most excited to see come to life in

183: The Power Of Friendship (SHIP OF THE DEAD Ch 43-48)
*drumroll please* we have finished another series! This marks our FOURTH series we've completed on this podcast. Magnus defeats Loki with the power of friendship. While we thought the flyting was a bit anticlimatic, we also thought the message was really sweet and true to Magnus's character. Loki is delivered back to the gods, and Magnus returns to Valhalla. The series wraps up nicely with

182: Let The Rap Battle Begin (SHIP OF THE DEAD Ch 37-42)
We have reached the romance! FINALLY! We naturally bring up Pirates of the Caribbean. Alex and Magnus cozy up in the cold. They meet up with Skadi, who helps them on their way to the Naglfar. Magnus drinks the mead and feels nothing. Manasa comes face to face with her shame about the ship indeed being full of the dead. There is a lot of fighting with the undead. People are invisible, and we get sl

181: We Get Nuts With Mallory ft. Demigod Debut
We welcome back third time guest Mal from Demigod Debut to discuss these Mallory-centric chapters! Mal offers her insight on being a Mallory. We think Frigg's power is kind of useless. Frigg gives the gang some guidance, and then they go murder giants. This is their second giant murder in this book alone! Rick brings up loincloths again. Maybe we should have a loincloth counter. They get the mead

180: All That For A Stone (SHIP OF THE DEAD Ch 25-30)
Magnus, with the help of Jack, defeats the Dragon Daddy in a strange but effective way. It’s all very deep and traumatic. We learn about nissers, or hobs, who are cutie little sprites. Magnus volunteers to damage his soul to save Hearth. They get the whetstone that they need, and then Hearth drops the plot twist that he’s planning to eat his father’s heart! Metal. Fortunately, Magnus drops the hea

179: We Are The Norse Mythology of Percy Jackson Podcasts (SHIP OF THE DEAD Ch 19-24)
It’s time for the weird giant battle. One of these seems to happen every book, and it’s where we get super confused. Alex’s clay creation, Pottery Barn, battles a lumpy clay giant, while TJ battles Hrungnir. Magnus just kind of stands there. Relatable king. We both wish we got to see more of Alex and Magnus’s relationship developing. They defeat the giant and his clay friend, and are told to trave

178: Babes, Blades, and Ballpark (SHIP OF THE DEAD Ch 13-18)
Manasa apologizes for the aforementioned strong opinion in the last episode. Erin has discovered sound effects on the recording platform they use. Get ready for lots of “ballpark!” Magnus learns all about Kvasir and his mead. Hearth and Blitz set off to find the location of Bolverk’s whetstone, while Magnus and his friends head towards England. TJ has an insane take about thanking the British. Eri

177: It’s Not A Thunder House, It’s A Thunder Home (SHIP OF THE DEAD Ch 7-12)
Manasa has a strong opinion about the title of this book. It’s 100% because she hasn’t finished the book yet and doesn’t know the full context, but shhh, don’t tell her. Once again, Magnus has run into shenanigans with giants. Magnus and friends are captured by nine large giant water women, who are all daughters of Aegir. They are taken to Aegir’s palace, where they discover that Blitz and Hearth

176: Loki Orders A Task Wolf (SHIP OF THE DEAD Ch 1-6)
Time for the final book in this series! We start off as all good books should begin, with a cameo from Percy Jackson. Manasa thinks that Jack was created specifically to anger her. Erin thinks that Jack is actually delusional and living in a false world. Percy helps Magnus train for his journey on a ship, and then Magnus and Alex go to clear out Randolph’s house, where they find some clues, and al

175: We're All Otis Here (HAMMER OF THOR Ch 55-57 + Listener Mailbag)
ONE MORE BOOK DOWN! We finish up the final chapters of Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor. They end with a bang -- Alex shatters some pottery and Magnus asks prying questions. Then Magnus regroups with Sam and connects with our very favorite, Annabeth. We go on a long tangent about toxic relationships and how one is supposed to know when to cut someone off. We wish life gave us breaks in between

174: The Cavern Wedding Industry Is Booming (HAMMER OF THOR Ch 49-54)
We are here at the climax of this book, and as usual, things get funky. Sam and Alex do a switch-a-roo on Thrym. Erin claims that Rick stole from Animorphs, again. The ceremony is at a secret second venue, Loki's cavern! Nothing says wedding like ominous bubbling liquids and a man being poisoned. Loki frees himself from his chains, and the Aesir gods show up just in time to not be very useful.

173: The Gang Discovers Critical Thinking (HAMMER OF THOR Ch 43-48)
FINALLY, we get to see Otis and Marvin again! But first, Utgard-Loki has to encourage Magnus and friends to do some critical thinking. Sif comes to the rescue and takes them to her home. They meet up with Thor and update him on their progress so far. Otis and Marvin are there and it's very special. Sif gives everyone a makeover. Magnus continues to be down bad for Alex. We pronounce everything

172: Rick Gets A Little Too Silly (HAMMER OF THOR Ch 37-42)
We're back with another chunk of classic Riordan fever-dream chapters! Sometime around 2016, Rick started getting silly with his side quests. This is the perfect example. Magnus makes Alex share more about her personal life. Blitz uses the power of fashion to make a magical bag. They arrive at Utgard Lanes and are challenged to a competition by all the giants. Magnus can't stop murdering giants fo

171: But First, Let Heimdall Take A Selfie (HAMMER OF THOR Ch 31-36)
Magnus and friends climb up the rainbow (happy pride month) and visit with Heimdall, who loves a selfie. Once again, Rick dates this as solidly 2016 with selfie sticks and Vine (RIP). They are summoned to Jotunheim via a mysterious bowling alley sign, and get roped into trying to carry a giant bowling bag for giants. Apparently Jack can sew, what can’t the sword do! SUPPORT US ON PATREON:

170: There Are Two Giraffes Inside You (HAMMER OF THOR Ch 25-30)
Magnus and Hearth have a run-in with a fish dwarf (and possibly commits ecoterrorism). We learn about the inspiration for the Ring of Power in Lord of the Rings. Erin talks about dream journaling. Magnus and Hearth bring Mr. Alderman the treasure, and he goes crazy with power and possibly becomes a dragon. The retrieve the stone and leave Alfheim to meet up with Sam and Amir, where Sam nearly brea

169: Not Nice! (HAMMER OF THOR Ch 19-24)
It may be episode 169 (nice), but the topics of these chapters are distinctively Not Nice! They're actually quite sad! Sam flies a plane (notably, without a license, which stresses Erin out) to drop Hearth, Magnus, and Stone Blitz off in Alfheim, to see a guy about a hot stone. The guy with the hot stone is unfortunately Hearth's abusive father. We hate Mr. Alderman. He would probably be i

168: We Fixate On The Hot Sword (HAMMER OF THOR Ch 13-18)
Fresh off an hour-long yap session, we are ready to yap further about Magnus Chase. Magnus and Sam meet up with Hearth and Blitz, and traverse into the Wight's Barrow. The mummies are very democratic. The Skofnung Sword is hot, and also afraid of women, apparently. Can Jack see? How does he know the sword is hot? Also why are the swords gendered? Rick, we have questions. Erin talks about her t

167: How Tough Are Ya? (HAMMER OF THOR Ch 7-12)
It's time to fight a giant worm! And also get to know Alex better! We discuss the merits of being an introvert vs. an extrovert. Is Magnus more extroverted or introverted? What about Percy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! Erin thinks lindworms sound kind of cute. They'd definitely get into the Salt Spitoon. Alex murders Magnus (they're off to a fantastic start). Magnus has s

166: The Return of Otis (HAMMER OF THOR Ch 1-6)
We're back, baby! Starting off book 2 of the Magnus Chase series with the return, and consequent murder, of our favorite goat, Otis. Manasa brings up Hoodwinked this time. Magnus has a wild chase with a goat killer. Jack is really into pop music now and has had a lot of personality development. Jack is now Manasa's enemy. We get to meet Alex Fierro, a character we have long-anticipated, and see he

165: Odin, Undercover Boss (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 67-72)
We are finally finishing this book! Magnus gets to meet his dad, who sounds hot. We get the big reveal of this book -- X is actually Odin, and was this whole time. Manasa doesn't like this plotline. She also got X confused with Halfborn for half of this book. Erin sees herself in Odin's love for a good PowerPoint. He walks us through the prophecy line by line (probably with crappy PowerPoi

164: This Podcast is Still Anti-Luke (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 61-66)
Sorry to our Luke lovers about the title -- if anyone can change our minds, it will be Charlie Bushnell! This week, Magnus is finally facing off with Fenris, The Wolf. We create a new character, Fernis, the nerdy brother of Fenris. Erin and Manasa decide they like The Wolf. He's very funny. He has pizzazz. We meet up with the floormates, and Gunilla dies. We're not all that sad about it. W

163: Two Otises with a Podcast (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 55-60)
This week, we come to the unfortunate realization that we are Otis and Marvin. Or perhaps we are just both Otis. The jury is still out. Erin brings up giant welfare in Ella Enchanted. We both think Magnus is actually in the wrong because he killed all three of Geirod's daughters. We both hate on Gunilla. Then we meet Hel briefly, who gives Magnus a difficult choice. Then they find some dwarves to

162: The One Where Loki Gives Birth To A Horse (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 49-53)
Today is Manasa's birthday episode --- wooohooo! We start off the birthday episode with a made-up fan story about the notorious Mrs. Gibson the serpent. Then we discuss the great Chris debate. We get to meet Thor, who is a bit of a himbo. Jack defeats a giant by going up it's nose. Manasa gives us a deep dive on Sleipner, the horse with 8 legs. Erin argues that self-driving cars are actually our a

161: Of Course The Sword Can Talk (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 43-48)
We start off this week by discussing a fan-made Norse godly parent quiz (link below!) and having some deep self analysis. Then Blitz has a crafting contest and wins, thanks to Sam's animorphing powers. The gang escapes the angry dwarves, and in the process, they discover that the Sword of Summer can talk! We have PTSD because of the Arrow of Dodona. Erin proposes a theory about Rick's fixation on

160: Taylor Swift's Dwarf Era (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 37-42)
We are running out of references, folks. Somehow we bring up Spongebob, Lord of the Rings, Taylor Swift, Rudolph, Jimmy Neutron, and Stardew Valley, all in one episode. Magnus and friends navigate the world tree and face the giant squirrel. They end up in Folkvanger, and meet Freya, Blitz's mom. Magnus lowkey has a crush on his aunt, but we aren't going to think about that too much. They get what

159: F Is For Failure! (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 31-36)
This week, Magnus and pals set sail with a strange man named Harold to see a goddess about a sword. Rick pulls his favorite trick to get two characters alone to bond. Rick also attempts to teach us about diversity. We meet Ran and get the Sword of Summer (which has yet to begin speaking). We find out who Big Boy is, and deep dive a little on Utgard-Loki. Erin talks about her Sims-induced psychosis

158: A Little Mischief Makes A Girl Feel Alive ft. Demigod Debut (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 25-30)
This week we are joined by repeat guest, Mal from Demigod Debut podcast (@demigoddebutpod)! We discuss childhood shows and Mal's brother's Wiggles T-Shirt. Magnus has to face his dead body (which subsequently makes us bring up The Haunting of Hill House for the 5000th time). Annabeth finds Magnus at his own funeral. If she had a nickel for every time she's attended a funeral where the dead person

157: We Meet THE Squirrel (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 19-24)
Magnus dies for the second time in this book on the battlefield, and has then has his second encounter with Loki. Manasa might actually be a child of Loki, based on her penchant for mischief. Magnus gets a tour of Hotel Valhalla from Gunilla, who we don't like. Blitz and Hearth show up to rescue Magnus and take him back to the human world, but they must hurry! Or else The Squirrel will get them! M

156: Is Valhalla A Cult? (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 13-18)
Magnus learns all about Valhalla this week. We reveal just how late in life we learned that Davey Crockett and Leif Erikson were real people. We deep dive on the Norns, and compare them to the Fates in Greek mythology. Sam, who we have already grown attached to, is removed from the Valkyries. Magnus gets to know his floormates more and then prepares for battle.SUPPORT US ON PATREON: https://www.pa

155: Milk Comes Back To Haunt Us (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 7-12)
It's time for Magnus to die -- yay! Magnus dies heroically (or not so heroically, depending on who you ask...) and wakes up in a magical afterlife hotel. We meet a whole new cast of characters and deep dive into Norse Mythology. The Nanny Goat breaks our brains a bit. Is it mead? Or is it actually yogurt? Asking the important questions. Magnus meets Sam, who is already a favorite of ours, and

154: Y'all Were Right About Magnus Chase (SWORD OF SUMMER Ch 1-6)
We are thrilled to be back and finally starting Magnus Chase! We hope this episode can bring you some joy amidst whatever is going on in your life/the world/etc. We admit it -- we didn't believe all of you about Magnus Chase. But these books are GOOD. We meet our hero, Magnus and get to see our fav, Annabeth Chase. We learn a bit about Norse mythology (something neither of us knew much about) and

BONUS: At Least We Suffered Together (We Talk About BLOOD OF HERCULES)
CONTENT WARNING: In this episode, we are discussing the adult novel, Blood of Hercules, after it went viral on PJO/mythology twitter. This book contains mature adult sexual themes, so if you are a younger listener or are uncomfortable with said themes, this episode is not for you (and we'll see you when we do Magnus Chase!).BLOOD OF HERCULES by Jasmine Mas went viral on Twitter. We're discussing w

153: Wrath Wrap Up + Mailbag (WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS Ch 37-39)
Hecate arrives home, and Percy tells her everything that happened. She doesn’t punish him because he brought her a new puppy (fair enough). Percy convinces Hecate to reopen her magic school, much to Eudora’s excitement. Annabeth, Juniper, and Grover join the Jackson-Blofis household for dinner and they have a nice heartwarming ending. Juniper says people who move away don't leave us, they're just

152: Someone Was Finally Milked ft. Ishanie (WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS Ch 33-36)
We are joined once again by friend of the podcast, Ishanie, to talk about some of the final chapters of this book! The fight with Peter and his ghosts is in full swing. The eels save the day, and somehow, milk is brought up. Again. We realize Peter is probably in Elysium (it's rigged!). Once again, we get confused by the timeline and by the references to so many modern pop culture moments. Percy t

151: We Learn Some New York City History (WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS Ch 29-32)
Finally, we learn the truth about Sally. It's not as exciting as we were theorizing. Turns out, Sally met Hecate before, when she was a child! Percy gets some more background on the magic school from his mom and from his school counselor, and we learn that apparently the end of magic school was linked to WW1? Also, we decide that magic school is for the girlies. Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and the pe

150: They Didn't Hunt Witches, They Hunted Women (WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS Ch 25-28)
It's been a rough week, y'all. Here is a podcast episode to hopefully bring some joy to your lives. Percy, Annabeth, and Grover get hit with beast breath, and turn into strange animal hybrids. Percy bonds with Gale and learns her backstory, which prompts Erin to do a deep dive on witch-hunting in Ancient Greece. Manasa finds a disturbing owl-human hybrid image on Google and shares it with all of u

149: The Milk Was A Metaphor (WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS Ch 21-24)
Manasa attempts to redeem herself post-milk debacle. She stands by her original theory. We discuss how this book sounds a lot younger in tone, and in themes. Percy and Grover continue their search for Gale throughout perfume departments, and Annabeth arrives to help them out and provide the brain cell. They find Gale, who is being metaphorically milked for knowledge, and fight some naiads to try a

148: Got Milk? (WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS Ch 17-20)
We are very sleep deprived in this one, so topics somehow include the recession, the U.S. education system, and...milk? After getting Hecuba home, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover turn to finding Gale. We learn some more about Hecate's magic school and Sally's potential connection to it. Percy and Grover have a nice bonding moment, and Grover almost dies via squirrels. They go on the hunt for Gale in p

147: Timeline? What Timeline? (WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS Ch 13-16)
We start off this episode by being really confused about the timeline, thanks to some great points from listeners re: Percy's comments about Leo. Rick definitely doesn't know his own timeline. In these chapters, the gang is on the hunt for Hecuba this week, who is having a grand old time terrorizing Greek businesses. They fight undead warriors and Percy somehow travels through space and time to Tr

146: Godsdammit, Grover (WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS Ch 9-12)
Grover... you've really done it this time. We return to our roots, aka, making fun of Grover. Also Erin has a new microphone and it becomes her whole personality. Grover explodes the house because he has no self control, and the pets escape. If Manasa was Percy, she'd have to go on a lot of walks. Mrs. O'Leary shows up (we all missed her very much) and Percy randomly adopts a puppy. Then, for some

145: The Sex Lives of Weasels Part II (WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS Ch 5-8)
Today's episode is all about pet ownership. Percy, Annabeth, and Grover enter their domestic pet-sitting era at Hecate's mansion, and last almost a whole day before chaos breaks out. Erin thinks that Hecate is actually a very good dog (and polecat) mom. The trio learns that walking a polecat and a hellhound is not for the faint of heart. Manasa deep dives on Hecate, Hecuba, and Gale, and we get a

144: Pumpkin Spice Percy (WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS Ch 1-4)
WE’RE BAAAAAACK! This week we’re talking all things Wrath of the Triple Goddess, but first, we have some yapping to do. We discuss all the new casting announcements for the show, and the TSATS sequel. Erin and Manasa realize they are Mark and Rick. Then we dive into the chapters and learn the Percy is a fall girlie. Is Annabeth a natural people person? WTF is a pumpkin spice burrito?? Why does Ric

BONUS: We Predict The Plot of "Wrath of the Triple Goddess"
This week, we're predicting the plot of Wrath of the Triple Goddess (out September 23, 2024!!!). But of course, we can't do things normally, because we're Camp Half-Pod. We turn our predictions into a competitive BINGO game, and you can play along and make your own BINGO sheet if you want! This is the free BINGO generator we used: https://myfreebingocards.com/bingo-card-generator
We then wrap up t

143: Sponsored By Sea-Mobile (CHALICE OF THE GODS Ch 31-35)
We are finally caught up on all PJO-universe books! Round of applause for Camp Half-Pod. This week, we are discussing the final chapters of Chalice of the Gods. Percy completes his quest, and we learn what clotted cream is (it’s a big day for all of us). The book wraps up nicely with some Sally, Paul, and Annabeth time. We wonder how Poseidon calls Percy. It reminds us of The Horse (RIP). We give

142: All Roads Lead Back To Zeus ft. Ishanie (CHALICE OF THE GODS Ch 25-30)
This week we are joined by our friend Ishanie! Ishanie, long time Percy Jackson fan and person who knew us in high school, gets to hear us get low key emotional about growing old. Percy faces Geras, the god of old age (our predictions were right!!). We come down firmly against loin cloths. Manasa wishes Geras wore a cute old man sweater. Erin reads multiple passages from the book because these cha

141: Snakes Canonically Love Rainbows (CHALICE OF THE GODS Ch 19-24)
This one starts off strong, with Percy enchanting a bunch of snakes with a rainbow (the snakes say gay rights!). They complete their quest for Iris, and in exchange learn about a mysterious Gary (not the snail), who has likely stolen the cup. Percy gives relationship advice to Grover. Erin still thinks Grover is a bad boyfriend. Sally announces her pregnancy to Percy, and we come down hard against

140: Swimmy Jackson and the Stolen Cup ft. Demigod Debut Podcast (CHALICE OF THE GODS Ch 13-18)
This week we are joined by our new friend Mal from Demigod Debut Podcast to talk all about The River Elisson and Yonkers. Mal confesses to crimes almost immediately. Erin thinks Grover is a bad boyfriend again. What was the point of Blanche? We’re not sure. Mal, a New York resident, gives us some context on Yonkers. We give Percy a new name. He is now known as Swimmy. Percy cleans a river, Annabet

139: My Godly Parent Is Lettuce (CHALICE OF THE GODS Ch 7-12)
Did you know there is deep lore about Hebe and lettuce? Well, you do now! Tune in to learn about how lettuce might be Hebe’s real dad. Also, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover fight some chickens as 8 year olds (classic shenanigans). We get some insight on a normal demigod week. We lament growing older and sound like we’re pushing 60 despite not even being 30. We make some predictions for the next few ch

138: We Found God In This Hebe Jeebies (CHALICE OF THE GODS Ch 1-6)
We are so excited to start Chalice of the Gods with you all and get back to reading about Percy, Annabeth, and Grover! We start off with chapters 1-6, and celebrate the return of first person Percy. There are some real sweet Percabeth moments in these first few chapters. Also, Sally Jackson. Percy embarks on his new quest, with the help of his besties. Manasa deep dives on Ganymede, the original t

BONUS: We Try To Survive Tartarus (and you can too!)
It is time for our long awaited bonus episode - that’s right, we’re going to put Erin through Tartarus.
Thanks to Manasa’s coding and Sammie’s video editing, we are bringing you this brand new Camp Half-Pod VIDEO experience!! If you are listening on Spotify, we definitely recommend watching the video. If you are listening elsewhere, never fear! The video will be uploaded to YouTube here: https:/

137: It’s Not A Phase, Mom (THE SUN AND THE STAR Ch 45-51)
Camp Half-Pod completes another book! We are wrapping up The Sun and The Star this week with the final chapters. Nico realizes that he can leave behind his trauma baby demons. They defeat Nyx with the help of Nyx's own children. Bob gets to see the sky again! The cacodemons are rebranded as the Cocoa Puffs, which Manasa low-key hates and Erin loves. Nico and Will get back to camp and we have a ver

136: Nico Becomes A Father? (THE SUN AND THE STAR Ch 39-44)
We lose our minds a bit in this one. Nico and Will finally reach Nyx’s house! It’s made of bugs! Manasa accuses Nyx of being poor and boring, and not able to afford real walls. Manasa also projects onto Dr. Thorn this week, in a turn of events nobody saw coming. Bob is being kept in a Bob Pod in the Bug House. Is Nico the star? Or is he actually the sun? And isn’t the sun a star anyways? Oh! And N
