2 Samuel 14 part 1
To have loyalty means that there are quite possibly those who are betraying you. King David faced this from his very own son, Absalom. It’s a sad story - but not without hope - and an important lesson to be learned.

2 Samuel 13 23-39 part 1
Today we look again at Second Samuel thirteen. It’s remarkable that a man named Absalom will draw the hearts of the nation away from King David and become King himself. Absalom was handsome and winsome… but that’s all he was.

2 Samuel 13 1-22 part 2
Sexual assault is a serious crime. In the day and age we live in, it is treated very seriously. Back in the days we are looking at in Second Samuel, we see a scene in which Amnon lures his half sister Tamar to his sickbed and assaults her. It’s a story with several tragic results. Tamar’s life is shaken to the core, and Amnon ends up dead!

2 Samuel 12 14-31 part 2
If we look at the biblical record, we see that many times in the past, man has made sin a priority, and the consequences are dire. We’ll look at a good example today, as we again go to Second Samuel chapter twelve. King David - a man after God’s own heart - has sinned with Bathsheba and the results are devastating.

2 Samuel 12 1-13 part 2
As we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter twelve today, we are reminded once again that sin always has consequences. Now, if you pay attention to social media and television, you’d get the opposite impression. Sin is accepted. Sin is celebrated. And if you dare confront someone with their sin, well, be prepared to be ostracized and criticized and marginalized!

2 Samuel 12 1-13 part 1
Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson shares the story of David and Bathsheba. You probably know the adultery and murder coverup quite well, if you have been a Christian for a while. Nine months after the sin, David is confronted, and then experiences what God’s forgiveness is all about. It’s a heart warming story of love and grace, and we hope you can join us for it.

2 Samuel 11 part 2
As we return to our study of Second Samuel, we encounter one of the lowest points of David’s journey on earth. David’s adultery and the murder coverup didn’t just happen. There were identifiable steps that led to this particular failure. How did this sort of thing happen? That’s the question we will pose and seek to answer now with Pastor Jeff Johnson on todays Sound Doctrine.

2 Samuel 11 part 1
There are a couple of events in David’s life that would seem to stand out above all others. Perhaps the slaying of Goliath is one, and certainly the fall into adultery and murder would be another. We’ll look at the latter today on Sound Doctrine, and seek to learn from David’s mistakes, so that we can avoid going down a similar path.

2 Samuel 10 part 2
Today we bring you the second half of a message pastor Jeff began last time, based in Second Samuel, chapter ten. King David is experiencing the good things about being a leader. His army has defeated the Ammonites and the Syrians, and David is riding high. This, of course, comes just before perhaps the Lowest point in his life - his sin with Bathsheba.

2 Samuel 10 part 1
Today on Sound Doctrine we see how David’s kindness was responded to shamefully. And it’s a lesson for us today, for those inevitable times of life when kindness is abused. Second Samuel ten is our point of reference.

2 Samuel 9 part 2
While David had many triumphs in his life, there were also a few noteworthy defeats that can serve as encouragement for us to live a life with purpose. All around us people are searching for the meaning of life. Some search for fulfillment in a spouse, or at work, in their children, or in pleasure or popularity.
