WZRD 88.3 FM - "The Wizard" - is the student-run, non-commercial freeform radio station of Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, broadcasting since 1974 and licensed by the FCC at 100 watts. Its freeform schedule mixes independent, underground and international music with public-affairs interviews, weekday news segments, Democracy Now! and the long-running Thursday Night Live in-studio performances. The station is a Pacifica Radio affiliate and also serves as an Emergency Alert System outlet.
