WSIE (88.7 FM), known as The Sound, is a non-profit, community-supported public radio station licensed to Edwardsville, Illinois, and based on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. It is the only full-time station in the St. Louis region dedicated to jazz, smooth jazz, blues and easy R&B, with music programming produced locally, specialty shows and SIUE Cougars sports coverage. Since losing state funding it has operated on underwriting and listener donations and also trains SIUE students in broadcasting.
