WERW is Syracuse University's only fully independent, student-run free-format radio station, founded in 1987. Student DJs host their own shows covering alternative and underground rock, electronic, hip-hop and world music, alongside talk and public-affairs programming. The station webcasts online and also operates a campus-only AM signal; it was previously heard on 1570 AM.
