A linguistic expedition into words that have no direct English equivalent. Hosts Maggie Rowe and Emily Garcés present themselves as language explorers, complete with rucksacks and notebooks. They travel across cultures to collect and examine unusual 'word specimens.' The show shines new light on familiar ideas by introducing words from far-flung languages.
