Improper Pruning
Coming into the season many of us who believed in the potential of FAMU Football are a bit more than concerned with what we have seen thus far this season. But I believe the fanbase, at least the rational members of the base, are willing to let our coach and this program grow into what we hope it to become. So while many of us are frustrated with the outcome of the week in Miami we can still prepar

First Game Gitters
The Quin Gray Era has begun and the FAMU Faithful are happy with a win but are concerned about how the win was accomplished. Let’s take a brief moment to recap some of what we saw at the Albany State vs FAMU game.Beyond the football game we were able to see FAMU volleyball get its first win of the season. And let's hold ourselves accountable by seeing how we did in the game day picks from the

End and Start with a Bang
FAMU football is gearing up for a great season, starting right at home where the Rattler spirit runs deep. We hit the ground running with that high-stakes Home Opener against Albany State. But let us finish our preseason predictions first up, we take on Southern University in a battle that always brings pure fireworks and electric energy to the field. Toothless Cats
UAPB has been at the bottom of the conference for the majority of the teams time within the Southwestern Athletic Conference. And this year is likely to be more of the same and the Rattlers are playing host to the Tigers. And on the other end of the rebuilding line we have Southern University who has struggled mightily to get wins against FAMU in the sport of Football. Let's look at two games a

Thee House of Horrors
Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium has been a house of horrors for the FAMU fan, and in all honesty Jackson State has been a boogy man for the FAMU Fan.The 2025 contest was an indictment on the football program that reigns fresh in the minds of all who were in Bragg Stadium and the failures of the 2024 contest in Thee Vet also reminds many FAMU faithful of how close this game was.The hope this

Whose homecoming is it anyway?
Last year saw Alabama State finally get over the FAMU sized hump in the schedule in a very lopsided victory over the home Rattlers. This year's battle has Alabama State sitting again near the top of the SWAC’s preseason polls and expecting to again make a run for the SWAC title. But here come the Rattlers who seemingly have nothing to play for but everything to gain. The Rattlers get the oppor

Dogs on a Leash
Alabama A&M and Florida A&M University is not a rivalry of any sort, especially on the football field. This is largely because the Bulldogs have yet to defeat the Rattlers since the two have been in the SWAC. Well this year the teams meet again with the hopes that we will see more of the same. But Alabama A&M has a veteran QB that is returning and a 2nd year head coach all while FAMU l

No Gold or Sunshine
Tennessee State is known as the land of Golden Sunshine but on the day that these two teams play FAMU, we are looking for Dark Clouds to be on the horizon. This game is built upon the years of rivalry and angst which extends from the playing field to the marching bands. This could be a very important game for FAMU Football after spending a week in South Florida.Fangs Up!#FAMU #FangsUp #HBCU #HBCUd

Cramilton or Ramsees, FAMU by Fawty?
Albany State makes a return trip across the border to open the season against FAMU and even the most discerning of fans believes that the Rams will need persons from the Field to Mob the Rattlers if they hope to pull off an upset. Both teams have new coaches and neither fanbase wants to be asking Where Are We Going. Welp, the question will be can Project Dreams happen on the field of dreams during

Time Change
One thing about the Fangs Up Podcast is that the show tries to be honest with the audience. And while the show is not coming to an end any time soon in the foreseeable future we will see some slight changes. Measured Growth
It is way to early truly start the preseason predictions, largely because we are still waiting to get information about what some of the final rosters will look like. But the aggregate of what many of the FAMU Faithful are looking for is growth.Whether it be on or off the field FAMU faithful want to see growth, especially from those who have been placed on campus under this current administration.

Stocked
At a time when many people are going fishing it has become apparent that FAMU’s coaches are working on stocking the room with talent. From football, to Volleyball and definitely both Basketball teams we have seen a ton of offers go out and hope that some of the students decide to commit to FAMU. We also have some good questions being asked about FAMU leadership while we get some new season ticket

It is an interesting time to be a Rattler.Fangs Up!FAMU #FangsUp #HBCU #HBCUdigital

Fresh Squeezed
Between the Orange Blossom Classic, Tip-Off Classic, Florida Classic & Andre Dawson Classic it has become very apparent that FAMU as a brand is still an attractive entity to those who are outside of the FAMU universe. Along with being a brand that is garnering the attention of many FAMU has seen players get offered and commit to wearing the Orange and Green. We always love to see that because

Championship Sunday
Tallahassee has one hope for a championship baseball team this year and it all comes down to a Sunday game, but the only Gold that matters is the SWAC Championship. Also the Basketball team has been working hard to get a few offers out while the track team continues to set the pace before NC

FAMU Focused
While other schools may have wins or losses and it does matter; these wins and losses only matter if FAMU takes care of business. It's been a busy week but we always know it's never dull at FAMU.Fangs Up#FAMU #FangsUp #HBCU #HBCUdigital

The Mic is Hot!
FAMU’s SVP caught a stray and I’m not sure we have looked into that. I normally stick to shutting up and dribbling but maybe we should take a step back to see some things. The Mic is hot tonight and we're going to act right, but we may cause a little good trouble in a short amount of time. Fangs Up#FAMU #FangsUp #HBCU #HBCUdigital

It’s always a good time to talk about FAMU Athletics and it is even better when we can get a coach to

No Dancing Shoes
FAMU basketball fans are either thankful that it's over or really proud of what the teams accomplished. If you Win they Will Come
FAMU Basketball fans are fair weather for a good reason. Years of a losing product coupled with many basketball options which persist make for a product which is a hot commodity. Game Changed
Many of us are going to talk about NIL and the importance of our amazing support organizations. Let’s borrow some ideas from other schools that we can use at FAMUFangs Up#FangsUp #FAMU #HBCU #HBCUdigital

Job Posted?
In order for you to get a job most times you have to first apply for the job. FAMUans and many around the nation hope that one candidate in particular has applied for the FAMU football coaches job. While the football coaching job does not seem that it has been posted the rest of the events on campus persist. Change Comes with a Cost
FAMU’s Early Signing day is here and it seems like things are very quiet on the Highest of Seven Hills. Path to the future
Did FAMU and its football coach solidify a path that will help this team in the future? The goals for the 2025 season are all but shot, but having a Six or Seven win season would make any decisions to make adjustments to the staff very difficult. While the football team has nothing in front of them the Basketball team is beginning the season with expected losses that are still not acceptable for va

Bluffing
Did FAMUans bet big on a bad hand? One could definitely ask the question when looking in the face of a three win season and as FAMU prepares to play UAPB on the Bluff this is a game that the program finds itself needing. The football team has definitely been a disappointment that has many questioning the path that has been taken thus far. While football season winds down, basketball is creeping up a

With four games left in the season, many are ready to turn the p

FAMU folks have been talking about the Athletic director position and the changes that have been happening in other areas of campus. More than Perry Street
Homecoming is a weeklong celebration of all things FAMU and is usually the last big celebration that brings so many to Tallahassee before Fall Graduation. Cooked
The argument for who has the best homecoming will soon be settled but the question that is on the mind of many is , is FAMU football Cooked?Because after the North Carolina Central game; the spirits of the faithful won’t be lifted no matter how many spirituals the band plays. What have we seen thus far and can anything be salvaged?#FangsUp #FAMU #HBCU #HBCUdigital

No Pivot, No Progress!
In Four games FAMU fans have seen the football team play a standard of football that is not indicative of what many who follow this program's rich tradition expect. We have also seen many leadership positions in the Athletic office be abdicated or flat out neglected all while the volleyball team seems to be in the middle of a rebuild. At some point questions are going to be asked about when we

No time to be stuck in idle
Too many recruiting offers to keep up with in the span of a weekend but the FAMU athletic teams have been working to bring in some new athletes to the Highest of Seven Hills. Some of the offers will get more attention than others while others will get overlooked, but the most important thing that we see is that the staff is reloading. The reloading of athletics talent is huge to the future success

Two is not Always better than One
FAMU was able to defeat Albany State in a game that was very close until the end of the game. But even after defeating Albany State FAMU fans have a ton of questions about what this team will be going into SWAC play.
