Tough Cookie: The Wally “Famous” Amos Story
Tough Cookie tells the story of Wally "Famous" Amos, the Black pop-culture icon and cookie mogul behind Famous Amos cookies, spanning his rise to overnight fame and his later business and personal struggles across the American century. The six-part series is narrated from the perspective of his daughter, Sarah Amos, who unravels decades of family drama that is by turns hilarious and heartbreaking. Set against the nostalgia of 1970s and 1980s pop culture, it explores how charisma and celebrity could not protect Wally from bad business decisions and a fractured family. Produced by Vanity Fair, the show won the Tribeca Festival's 2025 Nonfiction Audio Storytelling Award. It ultimately asks whether anyone can escape their family's past.
