In the Dark is an award-winning investigative journalism podcast hosted by Madeleine Baran. It began in 2016 with a season examining the abduction of Jacob Wetterling and the lack of accountability for unsolved cases. Season 2 focused on the multiple trials of Curtis Flowers for the same crime. In 2020, the podcast released a special report on the COVID-19 pandemic in the Mississippi Delta. After joining The New Yorker in 2023, it released series on Dubai's royal family and the Haditha killings in Iraq.
